Local guide · Warren St & Broadway, near City Hall
A two-hour small-group walk from City Hall over the Brooklyn Bridge into DUMBO, past Jane's Carousel to Time Out Market. It has no pizza, and that is the point: it delivers you on foot to the coal ovens of Juliana's and Grimaldi's, a few minutes away.

Say it first: this tour includes no food. It is the walk into DUMBO, the neighborhood at the Brooklyn foot of the bridge where the borough's most famous pizzerias stand within a block of each other. A local guide meets the group by City Hall, walks it across the Brooklyn Bridge, then through DUMBO's cobblestone streets, to the Manhattan Bridge photo spot, Jane's Carousel and Brooklyn Bridge Park. It ends at Time Out Market in the Empire Stores building, 55 Water Street, with the guide's own food tips.
The bridge earns the two hours. It opened on 24 May 1883 after 13 years of work, designed by John A. Roebling and finished under his son Washington, with Emily Warren Roebling running much of the site. The wooden promenade sits about 18 feet (5.5 m) above the traffic, and since a protected bike lane opened on the roadway in September 2021 it is for walkers only. End to end, approaches included, the bridge measures about 1.1 miles. Down in the park, Jane's Carousel is a 1922 Philadelphia Toboggan Company carousel from Youngstown, Ohio, restored by Jane Walentas and spinning since 2011 in a glass pavilion by Jean Nouvel.
Then lunch. Juliana's at 19 Old Fulton Street and Grimaldi's at 1 Front Street both sell whole pies only, no slices, and both pause the coal oven in the afternoon: Juliana's closes 3:15 to 4 p.m., Grimaldi's stops pizza from 4 to 5 p.m. L&B Spumoni Gardens runs its DUMBO branch at 46 Old Fulton Street, the Sicilian square people cross the borough for. Groups go up to 15, hotel pickup is not part of the deal, and with 238 reviews at 4.8 this is the most-reviewed tour on the site.
Meet at Warren St & Broadway in Lower Manhattan. The guide opens with the Civic Center and its old buildings.
The wooden promenade, the stone towers and the stories of the bridge's construction, with the Manhattan skyline, the East River and the Statue of Liberty in view.
Into DUMBO's old warehouse streets and the famous framed view of the Manhattan Bridge. The guide helps with photos.
The 1922 carousel in its glass pavilion, then Brooklyn Bridge Park with the skyline across the water.
The walk finishes at Time Out Market, 55 Water Street, where the guide hands out food tips. Juliana's, Grimaldi's and L&B are a few minutes away on foot.
